Arjun Gufa

About 5 km from Manali towards Naggar, on the banks of the Beas, the cave (Arjun Gufa) is situated near Prini village. Arjun Gufa (Cave of Arjuna) is named after Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers. He came to this cave and meditated a stringent meditation called austerities, a sort of penance. He received the Pashupata Astra, a strong mythical weapon, from Lord Indra. At least that is the story told in the Mahabharata, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India.
