Namgia is the last Indian village along India-China border in the area and by crossing the border one reaches Shipkila village in Chinese territory. Namgia is a Village in Pooh Tehsil in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh. It is located 75 KM towards East from District head quarters Reckong Peo 15 KM from Pooh & 278 KM from State capital Shimla. To reach Namgia village, one has to cross through an international check post at Akpa where all foreign nationals have to show inner-line permits. International trade takes place through this border route and selected traders are allowed to cross the border after due security.
Namgia is adorned with lush green fields of buckwheat, barley, turnips, apricots, and vines. Namgya village is situated at an altitude of around 3048 meters above the sea level. It lies on the banks of the river Satluj which adds to the aesthetic appeal of this place.
On your stay here, you can also visit the Buddhist temple known as Lagang. The local deities in this village include Dabla, Narain Bushahru, and Chola. A large portion of the land in this village is isolated and hence, it forms an ideal spot for peace-seekers.
